Maddie Petersen

Maddie (she/her) is a social service worker pursuing a master's in social work from the University of Utah. She is certified in addiction counseling and encourages harm reduction practices. Maddie strives to provide a safe and welcoming space where clients feel comfortable expressing themselves. Maddie uses a client-centered approach to provide compassionate and ethical care. She believes in acknowledging the systemic oppression that people face and respecting cultural traditions and practices. She utilizes techniques from motivational interviewing, mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and somatic therapy.

Maddie works with individuals, couples, and families of all ages to address varying life challenges. Maddie believes in fostering a therapeutic relationship that will aid in clients achieving their goals. She utilizes a gender affirming care perspective and is passionate about providing a safe space for LGBTQ+ individuals.

Outside of counseling, Maddie is very active and enjoys lifting weights, circus arts, bouldering, hiking with her dog, cuddling with her cats, spending time with her partner, and riding her motorcycle

Maddie sees clients at our Millcreek office and throughout Utah Via telehealth.
