"Tanner (he/him) specializes in working with young adults, particularly university students and young professionals navigating anxiety, depression, burnout, identity development, relationship stress, dating, body image concerns, family conflict, queer-related experiences, and major life transitions. He is especially attuned to clients struggling with perfectionism, procrastination, excessive phone use, short attention spans, and the pressure of “figuring life out” in early adulthood. Tanner takes an affirming, collaborative, and nonjudgmental approach that emphasizes authenticity, insight, and meaningful change.
Tanner primarily works from a TEAM-CBT framework, an evidence-based approach that combines cognitive therapy, empathy, and practical skill-building. His work focuses on helping clients understand the thought patterns, emotional habits, and behaviors that contribute to anxiety, depression, self-criticism, avoidance, and feeling stuck. He also incorporates somatic interventions and values-driven work to support emotional regulation, self-understanding, and lasting change.
Tanner believes therapy works best when clients feel genuinely understood and actively involved in the process. His style is warm, direct, conversational, and grounded in curiosity rather than judgment. He values building a therapeutic relationship where clients can be honest, challenged, and supported while developing practical tools for meaningful growth. Tanner also speaks Spanish.
Tanner meets with English-speaking and Spanish-speaking clients at our Sugarhouse and Millcreek offices, as well as online via telehealth.”
