Ginger Thompson is a bold and compassionate Clinical Mental Health Counseling intern at Capella University, dedicated to supporting clients who struggle with eating disorders, body image concerns, and perfectionism. She understands how relentless self-criticism and rigid standards can shape a person's relationship with food, their body, and their sense of worth, and she works collaboratively to create space for curiosity, courage, and change.
Ginger provides person-centered, solution-focused therapy, honoring each client's lived experience while helping them identify practical steps toward relief and recovery. Drawing from Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO‑DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), she offers concrete skills to loosen rigid rules, build flexibility, and challenge unhelpful thinking patterns around body image and disordered eating.
Her approach is intentionally "brave, not perfect": Ginger strives to make therapy a place where clients can show up as they are, explore the functions of their symptoms without shame, and practice new ways of relating to themselves and others. With directness, warmth, and deep respect for each person's story, she helps clients move from self‑punishment and fear toward self‑compassion, authenticity, and a more peaceful relationship with food and their bodies.
Ginger sees clients at our Pleasant Grove office and throughout Utah via telehealth.
