Elaine Huntsman

Elaine Huntsman earned her Master of Social Work degree from Brigham Young University’s School of Social Work. Prior to that, she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from BYU in Theatre Arts and another Master’s degree in Arts Administration from Drexel University in Philadelphia. Elaine has been in the mental health field for over 7 years working in acute care settings and private practice. She enjoys assisting individuals, couples, adolescents, and families struggling with depression, anxiety, posttraumatic stress, faith issues and transitions, communication issues and family stresses. She has experience working with issues such as suicidal ideation, postpartum mood disorders, pornography and other addictions, sexual and other abuses, autism spectrum disorders, and specializes in trauma. Elaine’s main therapy modality is Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and also has training in and experience with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Solution-focused therapy, Emotion-focused Therapy, and has extensive training and experience in Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy. Elaine describes herself as a “therapy nerd” who loves to talk about how thoughts, feelings, and behavior are linked to each other, and how it is possible for people to regain a sense of control through adjusting patterns they may be in. She is passionate about empowering people by highlighting their inner strengths and support systems, and about making sure they have a safe place to tell their story, process their emotions, and learn the knowledge and skills they need to work through their issues and find balance in their mental and emotional health. Elaine has been married to her husband for 26 years and has two children, one of whom is on the autism spectrum. She enjoys watching movies, reading, and fitness, and snorkeling is her favorite thing to do on the planet!
